Don't be Afraid to Travel to Mexico

If you are on this email list you probably don’t need to hear this, but if you have friends and family that are hesitant to travel to Mexico this is for them.

Rocky Point is actually one of the safest places to vacation. There is very little crime, the people are incredibly nice, and the ocean surf is usually calm. All the posts on social media about visas, FMM, searches, cartels, and anything else scary is just more of what always goes around this time of year. It’s just talk.

The FMM has always been a thing, but it has not been enforced, and by all accounts nothing has changed. You should get the form if you plan to travel further south than Rocky Point or need to sign legal documents. You can print the FMM form online then take it to the office just past the border line and have it stamped.

Searches and long waits are back to what they were before.

Here are some tips to keep you safe and out of trouble:

  • Do not bring firearms or ammunition with you

  • If you bring alcohol and you get inspected at the border you will have to pay a hefty tax

  • Do not speed through Ajo or Sonoyta unless you want to get a ticket

  • If you rent an ATV or a razor drive safely and not under the influence of alcohol

  • If you take a kayak out in the ocean wear a life jacket and don’t go out when the ocean is rough

Thousands of Americans enjoy Rocky Point weekly and have an amazing time, making lifelong memories. Don’t let fear or hysteria ruin your plans for a wonderful vacation.
